Breaking the Long Silence

elsewhere on the interwebs i've been reading a 30-day blog series about gratitude: one entry a day on something they're grateful for. i've thought about it and decided that starting on the first of the month i'm going to be doing the same here.

so, after more than a month of silence, you'll be seeing considerably more of me.

the other side of this is coming up with 30 photographs for these entries. they won't necessarily have anything to do with each other, but part of my agreement with myself for blog entries is to have at least one photograph to accompany each entry. since my photography has only been slightly better than my writing this will be something of a double shot of Better For Me.

see you in a few days.

and here i was thinking i was nothing more than a smart @$$ making comments stating the obvious over at your blog...

as i told [info]smileyfish at one point, i felt like i simply ran out of stories to tell. now i'm feeling like it's time to start writing again.

thanks.

see, i'm very, very divided on this image. it's very out of focus and remains so even after some post-processing to try and sharpen up the edges a bit. and even though she was laying on a very white piece of material, there's no background definition.

i almost didn't use the image -- but i love maggie so much and this image is very true to how she curls up throughout the year... and the circle theme seemed to somehow fit to me, so...

and feel free to not only take notes, but to join in yourself!

Strange - I almost never focus on the technical aspects of a photograph - partly because I don't know much about them. With me it's mostly gut reaction to images that move me or grab my attention. Probably why I'm not a good photographer or critic. And why more than one person has accused me of being a "fuzzy thinker". Oh well...I still like the photo very much.

well, maggie would thank you... if she was awake enough to do so.

i'm my own harshest critic, i think. however, i do appreciate and respect your gut reaction.

i felt like i'd just run out of things to say.

given enough time, i knew that would change. eventually.

as i told ed (above) i'm not too crazy about the picture -- from a technical standpoint. it's out of focus, even after being retouched in post-processing, and the overly white background bleeds out any sense of anything beneath maggie.

however, maggie does sleep like this on many occasions and i do love seeing her sleep so soundly. (usually, that involves being stretched out in my lap with my hand gently rubbing her belly) :)
